Physical Strength and Appearance

The boy was endowed with a striking set of sharp, strong, and pearly teeth. These features not only contributed to his impressive appearance but also signified his formidable physical power. His strength was so extraordinary that he was said to be capable of killing lions, a testament to his unparalleled might.

Rapid Growth and Exceptional Abilities

From a young age, the boy demonstrated remarkable growth and abilities. He matured rapidly, much like a celestial child, with each day bringing a noticeable increase in his strength and stature. By the time he reached the age of six, his power was such that he could seize and tie up wild animals—tigers, boars, buffaloes, and even elephants—to the trees surrounding the hermitage. This level of strength was far beyond that of ordinary children.

He rode on some of these wild beasts. He captured some of them, and sometimes he chased others in a playful mood. The hermitage dwellers of Kanva gave him a name. As he subdued all the beasts, they called him ‘Sarvadamana’.

Auspicious Signs and Distinguished Features

In addition to his physical prowess, the boy bore all the auspicious signs on his palms, marking him as someone destined for greatness and good fortune. His broad forehead further added to his distinguished appearance, symbolizing wisdom and nobility. These remarkable qualities, both physical and symbolic, made the boy stand out and highlighted his exceptional nature.

Rishi Kanva recognized the boy's remarkable qualities and achievements, prompting him to inform Shakuntala that the time had come to install him as the heir-apparent.
